Why

  • In 2016 two missing Van Gogh paintings were recovered in the district of Naples, Italy.

  • They had been stolen from the Van Gogh Museum in 2002.

  • This had a great emotional impact on both the Van Gogh Museum’s staff and fans of his work worldwide.

  • Their return was a great opportunity to celebrate, engage with our global fanbase and give our Dutch target audience a reason to visit the museum again.
